70Fire Fighters Prayer
(I did not write this poem, it has been recorded and venerated here just the same as it is written and carved in the public monument to Fire Fighters.)
…
FIRE FIGHTER’S PRAYER
.
I am called to duty,
God, whenever flames may rage;
give me strength to save some life,
whatever be its age.
Help me embrace a little child
before it is too late,
or save an older person
from the horror of that fate
Enable me to be alert
and hear the weakest shout,
and quickly and efficiently
to put the fire out.
I want to fill my calling
and to give the best in me;
To guard my every neighbour,
and protect his property.
And if, according to my fate,
I am to lose my life;
Please, bless with your protecting hand,
my family and those I’ve loved in life.

To be Respected ... Supported ... and Remembered
A Noble, Selfless, and Professional Trade.
...
I am not a firefighter, but I proudly know some.
Firefighters are often first on the scene of Emergency calls, even before Police or Ambulance. Needless to say, they have been trained in many aspects of Rescue Operations, but their specialty is fighting fires. This is an inherently dangerous occupation, but Professional Firefighters view it as an opportunity to unselfishly serve the public with only their best abilities and training. Their compensation is a reward greater than just monetary gain; it is mostly the satisfaction of knowing that they have protected the lives and properties of their fellow citizens and others in need to the best of their well-trained ability and talent, which is noble indeed.
I think all firefighters are great; and many of them are true heroes from the heart of this land who have risked their lives in order to save others in perilous and dangerous circumstance - and they are ready to do it again on a daily basis! That’s awesome! Here’s to them! Support your local Firefighters - yield right away, and be careful out there!
I pay specific homage to the lives and memories of the Fire Fighters and Emergency Workers who gave the ultimate sacrifice on Tuesday September 11, in the year of our Lord 2001. God bless their living spirits, and let them Rest in Peace.

Not all of us are all of us can serve so selflessly. Thank God for those who can. What a wonderful way to honor those who do.
What a beautiful tribute to the men who risk their lives and many times it goes unnoticed. They are heroes in my eyes, not many can measure up to this awesome calling. Thank you for sharing!!
Loved the poem (prayer) and the sentiment. Firefighters really are to be commended. Thank you for a great hub.!
Just had to come back to read this again and rate it up and awesome, because that is what it is. Well done.x
Awesomely beautiful! I served the Bakersville Volunteer Fire and Rescue in Bville, NC. I invented the Roan Moan bike ride to help with their fund raising. Fire departments never have enough funds. I will link this to my hub on the Brummets Creek Fire. God bless Timothy!

TD,
I appreciate this hub very much. I give highest respect to all those who put their own lives at risk to save and protect man. No greater love.
Recently, I became sick and had to call for the ambulance to take me to the hospital. Well, while being transported, I learned one of the ambulance paramedics was also a firefighter. I shook his hands and could not thank him enough for what he does for his fellow man. He was humble in spirit and I knew in my spirit that regardless of how things appear in the world, God always has His people who will be there for us.
Thank you for this tender and loving acknowledgment for our firefighters.
Forever His,
