Shadow of a Man; and the irony
43
The Shadow
A shadow of a man ’twas said
Is he that falls from grace
“One always fixes his own bed”
A daily retirement place
A retreat to one’s burrow
In refuge drawn as such
Where oft’ a mans sorrow
Can not be found as much
A place to retrench
(A hallow retreat)
Where even a bench
Rests weary and weak
Then after night falls
And howls replace jeers
Solace soon calls
And the shadow disappears
It blends in the dark
Incognito at best
And waits for the hark
Of the solemn quest
By dawn again the shadow’s seen
Slowly with the light
Drawn darker with a focused beam
For a harder, easy fight
And even when there’s more than one
- Each beam will cast its own -
Perception's apt to always shun
Letting shadow left alone
But the shadow can of course endow
Ironically the score
What do we see when heads we bow
Towards our feet and floor?

Nice. Thanks for stopping by Micky Dee's place. I like your work and will be back! Keep up the good work. It seems that your philosophy and mine are not too far apart.
INTERESTING POETRY, I ENJOYED IT, THANKS...

Too many of us I think scorn the needy, the afflicted, and the homeless. Let us give alms instead, so that they that need help may be directed to their church of preference for their rightful assistance as our fellow human beings. The providence of the Lord is sufficient to bless the unfortunate through the righteous churches out there. The government should not really have to step up to help out, in my opinion. Churches provide healthy living instruction so as to help those who need it, really. Be kind to your neighbours, even the homeless, the hungry, and the hurting.
